Egg Donation Program

Give the Gift of Life

Who can be an egg donor?
Any healthy women between the ages of 21 and 31 can be an egg donor. Donors must be non-smokers who are motivated to help a couple have a child of their own. Every potential donor must undergo rigorous screening including their medical and social history, psychological evaluation, infectious disease screening, and medical evaluation. Not everyone who applies to be an egg donor is accepted, but those who are find it to be one of the most rewarding experiences of their lives. Most donors cite the desire to help others realize their dream of parenting as their primary motivation for participating.

Who needs donated eggs?
Many women are unable to conceive with their own eggs, and many more women are unable to produce eggs because of prior cancer treatment, prior surgery, or inherited defects in ovarian function. Couples pursuing pregnancy through the egg donation program are highly motivated individuals who, in most cases, have pursued all other avenues of conception without success. These couples are screened as carefully as are the donors, to be as sure as possible that they will provide a good home, family, and future for any children they are lucky enough to have as a result of this procedure.

What is involved?
We will forward a complete medical, social, and personal history form to you that will need to be completed. Once we have reviewed this, we will contact you to arrange an appointment with our Ph.D counselor to be sure this procedure is right for you. We will then draw some blood for infectious disease screening and schedule an appointment with the physician. You will be instructed in the administration of the hormones and medications for your cycle. Once this is accomplished, you will begin the medications and hormones. This will require a few office visits for ultrasounds and blood test to monitor your response. When the eggs appear to be mature, you will undergo the egg retrieval procedure, an outpatient procedure performed with intravenous sedation. This is an absolutely painless, very quick procedure. That’s it. The rest is up to us and the recipient couple.

What can you expect?

  1. We will make this experience as easy and comfortable as possible. We will minimize the number of visits you make to the office and you will receive priority during those visits to make them as quick as possible.
  2. You will receive individual attention from our egg donation team.
  3. Your identity will never be revealed to the recipient couple, nor will you ever know who they are. This procedure is completely confidential.
  4. Participating as an egg donor has no long term health risks. There is no increased risk of ovarian cancer and, barring unforeseen (and extremely rare) complications, there are no adverse effects on your future fertility.
  5. Virtually every one of our donors complete as many cycles as allowed. We currently allow egg donors to participate a maximum of six times.
  6. You will receive significant compensation for the time and effort you invest in going though this procedure. We provide the maximum compensation allowed in the state of Indiana.
